The words that will always warm you
When no one else is there for you

Books will always be there

To fill the hole in your heart or to ease your mind
From the crushing waves that relentlessly
Pull you under

The smooth edges of the pages
Inviting but also harmful if careless

The smell enticing you deeper, and deeper
Surrounding you with it’s yellowed edges
And it’s soft whoosh as the pages brush past one another
The more you read the less the outside world controls you

Lose yourself completely
Let the words wash over you like the Sun’s rays on a warm day

The details make everything so much more realistic
You can almost taste the cakes they are baking
See the young girl as she plays double dutch with her friends
Until the second when you go to turn the page and find
The world you were living in was all just make believe

You beg and plead to go back
But the pages have run out and flown away like birds free from their cages

If you can’t go back to the world you once lived in
Who's to say that you can’t create your happy place
And live there
Forever
