Are we there yet?

The scenery flies by, but feels like we are on a treadmill.
Trees, lakes, cows. Repeat. The world one repeating canvas.

Are we there yet?

I hear a bear and and two lions groan for about the hundredth time.
My family, responds with the same answer, “no.”

Are we there yet?

I’m told I should be quiet, but the excitement invigorates me with energy.
This wait, an agonizing crawl, I feel stifled in this cage with wheels. Just one more question.

Are we there yet?
