My Skin Blends in with the Night
My skin blends in with the night
My skin shines in moonlight
Don't question why,
Your skin ain't light
Ain't white
Or feel it ain't right
Don't bleach, Don't hide
Love that you blend in with the night
Every day you have to fight
Society's lies
Of you being less than
I see you
I see your pain
I see your shame
The difficulties you have
With seeing your beauty
Your black beauty
Your dark skin beauty
But realize
Your skin is unique
And is beautiful
Love that your skin blends in with the night

Colorism is still an issue. This poem is about empowering darker skin black women. Being a dark skin black woman I know what it's like to look in the mirror and not love yourself espeacially with seeing light and white skin in the media.
