serenity
paint
white dotted paint across a lilac canvas was the sky
the descending sun issued the entrance of the stars
for a moment
the celestial objects were together
time stood in angst
the beloved lake is a safe haven
soft trickling waves rock a boat as sleep melts in
on your back you lay tasting sweet life
but the sun grows jealous of the moon's attention
so it dances into the sky shoving away
the stars and moon
and you let the boat pull you to shore

This piece was inspired by my summer trips to Minnesota! My aunt and uncle have a beautiful rustic lake house in the woods and it's my favorite place in the whole world. Every night I go out on the dock and look up at the stars and it is the most magical sight ever.
