Far away under metal roofs

We watch the glass cases being moved in

Filled with things we will never remember

Mostly from when we were small

Ordinary things from ordinary places

Sights and smells we forgot

That used to be the biggest thing

A red kitten sweater from my Nana’s trunk decades old

That I actually still have

And wear

With the skirt I found in the thrift store

And the old yellow sneakers that I found

And some of my friends laugh because they are old

But I wear them

And I can feel the color red
