Run: The Mexican Revolution
"War, war! The patriotic pennies
In the waves of blood soaked. "
There is a war in the hearts of Mexicans
The blood runs to the Mexican border
Later, the tears of Mexicans flow
The peasants rise
As rich people go down
But blood is still flowing
And tears flow
Across Mexico
Soldiers run and are afraid
They do not know the effect of the war on Mexican people
The country is divided into two parts
Is it better to have a good dictator or a bad president?
Now, all our government is bad
We need to end the confrontation
We need to control the blood and tears
Flow, flow
Mexico is running
The country runs a new government
They run to death

I originally wrote this in Spanish (see below). It is a poem that describes the tone in Mexico during the Revolution. I use a part of the Mexican national anthem for the first two lines of the poem. The parallels between objects and people represents the effect of war.
Correr
“¡Guerra, guerra!
Fluyen, fluyen
México está corriendo
El país corren a un gobierno nuevo
Corren a la muerte
