Choices In the Dark

An expansive darkness engulfs my perception.
I don’t know where I wander, trapped within it,
However, all movements are mine.
Beaming lights pierce the unknown,
And voices invade the silence.
A cacophony of commands from each ethereal portal.
They clutter my mind, each persuading me to follow them.
I want to join them but the choices overwhelm me.
Would I be able to return if I followed the wrong one?
In my indecision, each light fades away.
Darkness surrounds me once more,
But with it clarity.
Now I wander again to create my own light.

At this time in my life, as with many students soon graduating from highschool, there is a great sense of pressure to move on and decide on what I wish to pursue in the future. Many people worry about acting on those choices and that can end up holding them back from what would really be best for them.
