Never Knew Her
I try not to look anymore.
Turn my eyes as I drive past the cross.
Block the flowers from my view.
Pretend it never happened.
I didn’t know her,
but now I never can.
I’ll never know the girl
whom I drive past everyday.
She’ll forever lay under the tree
beneath the rustling leaves.
Just a soul I’ll never know,
but drive by everyday.

This poem is about a girl who graduated from my high school last year and got in a car accident and died. I never met her but the tracks are still there in the grass. It left a huge impression on me. I've never thought about the people who are so close to me but I've never given a chance at getting to know.
