I Ask Why
Why do we live in a world full of hate?
Why do we find satisfaction in hurting others?
Why do we put other people down to bring ourselves higher?
Why do we ridicule those who do not act the same as us?
Why do we ostracize those who do not look like us?
Why do we always criticize the things we do not know?
Why do we assume that hurting someone will not leave a scar?
Why do we insult the things in others we know they cannot change?
Why do we judge others for what they wear and how they look?
Why do we justify our cruelty based on the color of someone’s skin?
Why do we justify our ignorance based on the beliefs of another?
Why can we not all see each other as humans?
Why do we see the problem and allow it to continue?
Why do we watch as others suffer?
Why do we not extend our hand to those who have nothing to hold on to?
Why?

I am currently taking a Creative Writing class in school, and we write lots and lots of poetry! This poem is probably my favorite one that I have written. This is a poem for those who suffer from discriminationa and bullying, and is a Protest poem to societies ways of hurting people and not doing anything for thos who are getting hurt.
