Waiting Dog
I sit at the window,
With nothing to do,
I’m waiting silently,
Waiting for you.
The hours pass by,
How long has it been?
One hour, two hours,
Three hours, ten?
I begin to be hungry,
A little at first,
My tummy is about
Ready to burst
The sun starts to go down,
You’ve been gone all day,
Oh how I really just
Want to go play.
A gleaming light appears,
Out in the street,
I see a familiar face
In the front seat.
But no, it’s not you.
It is just the neighbor.
I still wait for you to
Enter the door.
I ask myself,
If you’ll come back for me.
I’m waiting silently,
Waiting for you.
