For The Love of The Game
It's early April excitement in the air
Father's explaining the game to their sons
vendors selling more than just hot dogs and warm beer
Fans cheering under the bright lights that hold the fate
of the rigorous season to come
A young boy at his very first game
Sitting on the edge of his rock hard seat
Breathing in the air of fresh cut grass
Images of flashing leather he barely has time to react
a small eggshell ball flying by with red vibrations
over the wall and gone.
Nearing the end of this extraordinary adventure
His team down by two, time running out.
He looks up at his dad with worried stare
praying they can pull it off.
the hope in his eyes and butterflies in his belly mean only one thing.
the boy is in love.
