On this day of celebration
we gather to discuss survival.
Surrounded by familiar and new faces,
two sides speak in distinct tongues.
Food prepared from both parties
tasty turkey together with mashed potatoes and green beans.
Potatoes and beans farmed by the American Indians
along with turkeys shot by the visitors.
The eating commences,
people so hungry they look like pigs at the trough.
The trees dance around them as the wind blows in from the ocean.
Time to discuss the problem at hand
If both sides get along, we should leave here joyous,
both sides dreaming of food throughout the winter.
If the sides don’t help each other, it will be a starving 4 months.
The pilgrims and Indians end the meal with final clarification
on this day of celebration.
