They say drag one foot forward and the next ones follows.
Beep, Beep
Remembering that I shouldn’t remember
Shouldn’t think of the past
The vast, dreadful past
Beep, Beep

But when I think of it…
It doesn’t define me.
It doesn’t consume me.
Beep, Beep
I am no longer the person I once was
Beep, Beep
Because as time flew,
I grew
Beep, Beep
I am now like a blossoming flower after a drought when all hopes were lost
Beep, Beep
Or Severus Snape surprisingly revealing his good side
Beep, Beep
Life offers a whole new day every morning.
As the bright, gleaming sun begins to rise over the horizon,
All of life’s new opportunities are unleashed again
Like a new piece of paper, you can start fresh again
Make new choices, meet new people, explore new beliefs
So
Today will be your day.
And there’s no need to hit the snooze button.
A whole new day.
No matter what the past thinks of it.
I live.

Of course, we’ve all done things we regret doing; however, that shouldn’t influence the way we view ourselves.

In my poem, someone is trying to motivate themselves to get out of bed and live; however, their past keeps bringing them down. As the poem continues, the person finally hears their wake up call, or in this instance it was the alarm clock. They then find their true inner peace and serenity, and they let the past go.

My target audience is primarily people that have had a troublesome or difficult life and think that it will interfere with their future. I just want to reassure them that most outcomes in life aren’t permanent, and we can all turn our lives around, whether in a negative or positive manner.
