Reminiscent

Sitting on a bench

Watching children on the playground
Swinging on swings,
Laughing as they slide down the slide

There was once a time that you were happy
When you didn’t care what the world thought
It was only you
And your imagination

Now that imagination exploded
Bringing your fears to reality
The world spins around you
Taunting you

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
No one to trust

You used to not worry
As a child everyone was a friend
Stranger or not
Do you wanna play a game?

Let’s play hide and go seek
See if you can find me
You sit in the dark spot
Hoping they don’t find you

But now that darkness has crept up on you
The only way to escape is the light,
But the light is no better
Only worse

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
No one to trust

A child fell and scraped her knee
She cried, and her mother came
She fixed her up, and conforted her with lulling words
Then off the little girl goes

Bouncing around as if nothing happened
If only life was that easy
If you fall to get right back up
But that’s not possible

Once you’re down, it’s nearly impossible to get back up
You can’t cry out for help
There isn’t anyone willing to reach to the darkness
You’re alone

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
No one to trust

What if you gave up?
Who would miss you?

Nowhere, no one

Nothing
