Tonight I Can Write...
Tonight I can write the lines of admiration.
Write, for example ‘The stage is full
With the Marley and the props shining in the distance.’
The stage is lit and shimmers.
Tonight I can write the lines of admiration.
I admire her and sometimes she admires me too.
Through performances like this one I watch her.
I watch her leap and turn under the spotlight.
She admires me and sometimes I admire her too.
How could one not admire her elegance in her shoes.
Tonight I can write the lines of admiration.
To think that that’s her. To feel her passion.
To hear the graceful music, still graceful with her grace.
And the variation settles to the soul like soda after it’s opened.
What does it matter that she did not win.
The stage is full and she is with me.
Though this will not be the last performance I watch of her
And this not the last time I admire her.
