Why I Write
The words come so easily, as the thoughts are already so near the surface
They push at you, pull at you, eager to escape
You need to get these feelings out
An overwhelming need for someone
It must be put in words
The pain you face each day
Expressed through carefully crafted lines
And experiences, both good and bad
You can share them with the world
Poetry allows one to say what must be heard
Poetry allows one to express their soul

This poem describes why I write poetry. All of these thoughts and feelings get bottled inside of me, and I can use writing to better understand them. Writing poems allows me to get everything out, and it creates a beautful read in the process.
