Fly Away Angel

Salty tears and hot wax
mixing with burnt grass
paper lanterns shine
smoke stained cups holding
broken hearts and promises
lonely cries at night
a sad soul fled from
a battle lost with his life
an angel is born
fly away angel
until your spirit is healed
wings lift you away
loved ones drown in grief
words lost in the hands of time
souls joined together
flames illuminate
light rises to join the stars
in one last prayer
Goodnight dear angel
fly away from your pain
to heavenly peace

A former classmate commited suicide the year after he graduated from highschool. His friends gathered at night in front of the flagpole and honored him by talking about him in a group. This is the experience and thoughts that went with it.
