I Am My Own
I may do what is frowned upon
By those who do not understand
What it means to be free,
As they are locked by the expectations
Of our judgemental society
That I choose to break away from,
I do what makes me happy
No matter what that includes,
They think I am going nowhere,
When in reality
Im going farther than they could dream,
Success is a complex destination,
With infinite roads to get there,
And is surely not based
Off of the opinions of others
Identities cannot be explained
By what can be viewed from the outside,
Grades to not determine your genius
Drugs do not define who you are,
The praise that's received by older generations
For listening to their beliefs
Means nothing
As everything you’ve been told
May not be true.
