Of course I care about your safety.
How can you even question that?
Have I really given you that little faith in me?
Tell me what I did to hurt you so badly.
I trusted everything you ever told me,
I let you see me cry, and I gave you
license to calm me.
I exposed my fears of being replaced,
in the hope that you would hear me.
I expected your support,
but that made it my own fault that
you broke me.
Because the only people that can harm me the way you did,
I gave them that power.

This is a poem I wrote in therapy. My therapist gave me six words and told me to create a poem out of them. The words were: Safety, care, harm, calm, support, and fear.
