Gray Flannel

Every day
I put on the same gray flannel
Every night
I take it off for you
Every word
Seems disjointed
Every dream
Has disappeared from view
Every second
I am slipping
Every moment
My mind maintains a midnight hue
Every sound
Is too loud
Even sunshine
Is too bright
However
My incongruous hypersensitivity
Is selective
Because
My music could explode eardrums
I am part of the
Desensitized generation
That assiduously avoids the question:
Are we the victims of society or
Are we its paramount oppressors?
