Taken
Too young to understand,
the hardships of life.
My mom was not able
to take care of me any longer.
At age three I was adopted and switched
to an entirely new family.
I did not mind
at first,
until I realized a part of my past was gone.
I missed my mom.
I missed the one who brought me into
the wild environment I call
life.
Even today I do not know her
or where she roams.
Someday,
I will meet
my mom
will celebrate
with the one who loved me so much
she sacrificed her life with me
so I could be happy and safe.
Yes, I was adopted.
No, not because I was not needed
simply because I was
loved.
