breathe in the air

when I ask them
about the importance of the oceans
they belittle it to things like:
''a lot of fishes live there
and fishes have the right to life''
or
''that's how it has always been
on this Earth
so it must stay this way''
they don't know that the ocean
gives them oxygen
that allows us to breathe
and live
don't ask them
about the importance
of poetry
they don’t know anything
about breathing
