So, thats it?

The total sum of a forgotten existence

The accumilated life

Of the Unclaimed and Unknown

Reduced to dust

Thrust into the fire and

racked and crushed like coal

Blended into ash

Placed in a tiny box and

stuck upon a shelf

Like misplaced autobiographies left in a dank basement

Is that,

Where all the forgotten go?

I watched the documentary A Certain Kind of Death and this poem is inspired by that.
