this is the time in my life where i start seeing in color
driving around in my best friend’s jeep with elvis serenading us
mind and soul i grow into myself
my records spin over and over
for you the needle never makes that scratchy noise
the one that always comes but never by your side
we thrive in decades we never lived in but feel like we know
there is nothing more sentimental than holding human words in
your hands
i am holding yours now as i drive into the cotton candy sunset
i know how to love again
