Folium
Leaves
Growing and blooming only to fall
Drifting downward, clothed in green
No hope or desperate plea may stall
Their downward spiral is foreseen
Leaves
Jovial green gives way
To hues of tainted gold
Change, the price they pay
For a cycle uncontrolled
Leaves
The fall from tree to land
A descent ever fitting
‘Tis freedom they demand?
Or drastic change, unwitting
Leaves
It will not do to mourn
Our fallen earthy friends
Nor does it call for scorn
For all must leave in the end

I wrote this poem as a sort of ode to the bittersweet journey of growing up and changing.
