“The Day We Won Nationals”
Feeling so anxious to get on the stage
Being backstage was the worst time ever
Having to run through the routine
Warming up had to be my least favorite experience
Just having to run through the routine made me more nervous
Knowing my team was capable of hitting this routine
Made so many emotions run through my head
What if we forget the dance?
Our music would skip
All of this made me sick to my stomach
Finally we were on deck to go on
It was almost our time to show our performance
Before we go on we all say a prayer and our chant
“I will retire with the crown, yes
No, I'm not lucky, I'm blessed, yes
Clap for the heavyweight champ, me
But I couldn't do it all alone, we”
Then it was our time to shine
Walking onto the stage lights blinding me from the crowd
I knew that at this moment we had to leave on the floor
Everyone breathes and the music starts
After our routine is complete we now must wait
We cheer on others routines that are happening
Now it’s awards time
We wait until our division is called
Wait this is our division
Not 3rd place,
Not 2nd place,
Wait, that means we won
We are 5 time National Champs
I can’t be more proud of my team.
