Ashes

February 22, 2017
By Anonymous

I watched you taste every word,
Carefully on your tongue...

Before spitting them out,
Breathing fire onto my skin...

Branding me with the flames,
My shoulders turned to ash...

Bearing the weight of your lies,
Everything inside me crumples and dies...

As I came face to face with your roar,
My body burned...

Yet I dare say,
Your words themselves are what hurt the most.

Be happy, not because everything you see is good, but because you can see the good in everything.

Wow, the depth to this poem is wonderful and very captivating. I liked the word choice and the topic, too. Great job!
