Waiting...
Sitting at home waiting and waiting and waiting for him to appear at the door
Waiting to impress him, waiting for him to start the conversation
Waiting to be asked how my day was
Waiting to stop catering to his every need
Waiting to no longer need a man to support me
Waiting to be the one to switch the roles
Waiting to stand up and protest
Waiting and waiting and waiting
Sitting at home waiting and waiting and waiting for her to appear at the door
Waiting to show her I tried, waiting to ask her about her day
Waiting to prove society wrong
Waiting to display that men and women can do the same roles
Waiting to be the one that my kids will look up to
Waiting to be the one to switch the roles
Waiting to stand up and protest
Waiting and waiting and waiting

This piece is inspired by women in the 1940's when they were given an oppurtunity to work but as soon as the war was over it was ripped out of their grasp, and they were then forced to go back to their lives before the war.
