Love from afar
Love from afar
My love is bound in the inner workings of the city.
Embedded in the concrete where thousands of stories walk.
My heart is at the top of every skyscraper.
The streets are my heart strings, the parks are my lungs.
Paper Towns by John Green states the following:
“I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.”
I hold this statement as a reflection of my life and my love. I am in love with far off places.
But my heart breaks everyday.
Because I am across the river, stuck in the woods, looking at the love of my life from afar. I would go to her but I am not allowed to climb on the rocks guarding it. I would swim to her but boundaries detain me. I am lost in a forest maze unable to feel love.
I am tortured daily. Looking and loving from a
d i s t a n c e.
