Happy Endings
Happy endings,
I have decided,
are for the sheltered.
In the real world,
things are far too messy
for that.
It's impossible
to tie everything up
in a neat little bow,
yet we hold onto
these magical fantasies.
So far out of reach,
but we imagine
we can almost touch them.
Fairytale endings aren't real.
But for some unknown reason,
we hold onto the dream that they are.

I was inspired to write this by a book called Our Chemical Hearts. The ending was anything but fairytale, but it was such a real conclusion.
