Where I'm From
I am from a family of seven,
living in fervent sand and featureless scenes.
From attention and approval,
“stay strong”s and “it’s up to you”s.
I am from being Baby,
small but feisty and mighty.
I am a Jane Doe,
blending in with high school and varsity sports.
I am an understanding smile formed when listening to people talk,
destroyed by empty heads but obtained by unempty hearts.
I am Shkav,
blonde but school-smart.
I am growing my eagerness,
a promising education and adventuring an abundance of opportunities.
Going to stop at nothing,
for perseverance, character; and character, hope.
I am going to be Savannah,
formed from my past, shaped by my present, and radiant in my future.
