December 18th. Doesn't seem too important. 7 days until christmas. So close to Christmas Break. Basketball game. Away, at 7 o'clock. Awful loss. Coach, I mean Dad wasn't there. Speak of the man. "Hey Dad. No we lost, how's Grammy?". All the oxygen in the world: gone.

"Hey Grammy, it's me. I love you. I know you are struggling, but I really you to hang in there for me. We are coming through Boston, just one more hour. I have a cd for you, we recorded all your favorite songs. Just one hour."

She can't respond. Time can't move slower. Finally. She's in the living room. "Hey Grammy. It's me. I'm here. Thank you for waiting. I needed to see you." She's unrecognizable. Memories flood my whole brain. Too many, they start to move to my eyes. My eyes filled with memories. They are falling down my cheeks.

"You can let go. We are all here." Can she hear me? I feel her squeeze my hand, and her lids finch. Memories start coming at a faster pace. "Maybe you should leave for the night, drive to Carly’s. Sleep over. I call you tomorrow." One last glance.

Eyes get heavy. December 19th. 7 in the morning. Shot up in bed. She's gone. This day will never be the same.
