Pretty Scars
Bloody knives leave pretty scars
Broken hearts make perfect walls
Bruised minds sometimes say goodbye
Pretty carvings upon your skin
Still showing for you to remember again
Dueling blades give more pain
So for a minute you can forget
A burning sensation starts to begin
And the next day you do it again
Either starving or overeating
You’re doing it for the same reasons
You're breaking down and thrown around
And told you're over thinking
You don't know what to believe
So the next day you start again
Burning candles upon a cake marking another year
But you don’t think it's meant to be
Hiding away in your room cause bruises don't heal fast enough
And pretty scars show more than you think they would
Carved words upon your thighs bleeding when you move too much
And little pretty scars to show for it
Cause bloody knives leave pretty scars
And broken hearts make perfect walls
And sadly broken minds sometimes say goodbye
Presents wrapped under a tree don't mean a thing
When your heart is getting too weak
And simple words mean more than you would think
So try to not say all you think
A little journal hidden under your bed
To keep all the things that are bringing you down
And then in your little dresser you keep the knife that could end it all
Pills piled up in a little box marked “ for when everything is completely lost”
So you have a backup if all else fails
Nothing matters when you feel like the world's personal clown
When you're swimming you hope that you drown
And some days you can't help but frown or give a blank stare as everyone tries to talk
The days of pretending to be something is gone
And now you're surrounded by the fog
By the shadow of sadness and gloom
By the darkness that you've entered into
And its all you've got to stay true and alive for those who love you
Cause pretty little scars are the one thing that keeps you going
Even if you think it should be the other way around
Maybe one day you’ll feel okay but that day ain't today
Pretty little scars upon your pretty little body reminding you of when
When it all began
Why you even stand
Why you are you
And when you were good
Untampered with
But were you ever really good
Were you ever really pure
Who has never made a mistake because i don't know anyone for sure
Living can be a chore but it's good for those you have around you
Who love you
Who hate your pretty little scars and the thoughts that surround you.
Cause pretty little lies leave broken hearts
And broken hearts have dark thoughts
And dark thoughts have deep actions
That leave you with them pretty little scars
