"Freedom lies in being bold." - Robert Frost

This sweet child cried last night,
blue eyes glistening like the rain,
two glassy mirrors reflecting a flood,
of sorrow and torment and pain.

No innocence does comfort her now,
from the storm raging in her mind,
and she sits and waits for consolation,
she yet not knows she'll never find.

For daylight gives way to darkness,
which haunts her in her sleep,
yet no suspecting soul ever wonders,
why this sweet child does weep.

With scratches embroidered on her arms,
that trace patches of black and blue,
it seems as though she is breaking,
but still no one has a clue.

This sweet child cried last night,
for she yearns to see the day,
when light streams through the window,
and finally chases her monsters away.
