LOOK AT MY PROFILE. DO IT.

There’s inspiration in my system
And scattered pens all over the floor
That were previously used to inject me
With lethal doses of verses and balladry.
I’ve overdosed on words;
The lines of poetry I did earlier
Rush through my veins
And give a new clarity to the world;
The similes and alliteration I popped
Fill my mind with ideas and colour
Like someone turned on the disco lights
At my own personal poetry party.
My consumption of verbal hallucinogens
Induce allusions that take me on a trip
Down a rabbit hole of literary knowledge
With Alice in tow,
And that hit of personification I did
Makes inanimate objects speak to me,
Bringing out their character figuratively.
I’m addicted to the release of poetry;
I can’t refrain from its thrilling high
And I always go back to the words
That heal me through their symbolic chaos
And fix me through their lyrical mayhem.
And in the end there is nothing
That can save me from my dependency
Or end my craving for versification;
There is no poetry rehab for me.
