LOOK AT MY PROFILE. DO IT.

What does poetry mean to me?
It is my earth and sky,
My previous breath and my next;
It is the hope that drives me onward
And the strength that raises me up.
It calls to me when I am in despair,
Providing a light in the endless darkness.
It is the echoing beat of a drum in the silence,
Telling me I still have a heart with me.
It is the fuel and air to the fire within me,
Building me into a blaze that lights the night
With flying sparks brighter than the stars.
It is my resurrected dreams
That weave their way into my words
And scream defiantly at all that broke them.
It is a whisper and a roar
That protests against the lies of the world
And unashamedly spreads the truth.
It is a guide that shows me the path to joy
And gives me the words to take me there.
It is my song and melody
That play an eternal song for me to dance to.
It is my wings to take me into the sky,
Freer than I ever thought possible.
It is my tool to create, but never destroy,
And always use for the good of others,
To inspire and move them by emotions.
It is a gift, my gift;
It is the very essence of my being
And it streams and flows in and out of me
With a power uncontainable by humanity.
It is emotion, it is pure life;
It is the call and cry and beauty of the soul
As it yearns to be greater, to be more;
It is a world all its own;
It is everything.
