Drowning
Do you think people know
when another person is drowning?
I walk.
I talk.
I am just like everyone else.
I wear my smiles
like a mask, and weave
my way through the halls.
Untouched, unscathed.
Emotionless.
When I am around others,
I wonder if anyone else
can hear my demons
screaming.
Oh, how a person can carry
obliviously on while
your nervous system is
crumbling;
The very glue that
holds you together
coming undone.
How is it that
they continue on when
I am up to my neck
in a dark black lake
of negative thoughts?
