When the tsunami of happiness washes over you,
drench yourself in it’s crashing waves.
When love consumes you with the warmth of home,
welcome it in with arms opened wide.
When your comfort zone expands like a balloon,
let it burst into the unknown.

When you’re feeling trapped...enclosed in your thoughts,
unconfine your soul from the chains the bind you.
Let it fly free, with its wings spread broad,
exposed to the breaths of life.
When the pain pounds pressure into you,
suffocating you,
stealing your last breaths away, and leaving you lifeless
it IS okay to feel blue.

And when the heartbreak strikes into you,
don’t let it burn through your wings,
leaving you to drown
in the ocean of
anguish.

This was the first poem I ever publicly performed in class, it was my turning point in self confidence.
