A group here
A group there
Groups everywhere

People with different
Colored hair
All I do is watch
And stare.

At the people around me
Wandering aimlessly
I smile at them politely;
Thinking to myself
Quietly

Look how far we’ve come
From many years before
Where the blacks and minorities
Sat outside the door
Watching the whites walk by

All in a line,
With their shiny new clothes
And pristine little smiles.

Their perfect lives
Not a care in
The world.
Making fun and jokes,
But not caring whose
Feelings they’d hurt.

Because colored
Don’t have feelings,
They’re dumb as rocks.
The only things they’re good
At is fetchin’ me a pair of socks.

Until coloreds marched
Together
In all kinds of
Weather,

Fighting to prove
That whites are
NOT BETTER…

Thank us Blacks, Hispanics,
Asians, or whatever race

We may be.
Because deep down,

I know,
There’s a reason
God made me.

Blood was bled,
Tears were shed.
People I’ll never
Know now lay dead.

The sacrifices they
Made,
Can never be
Repaid,
People of today bade

Our ancestors of
Yesterday with
A mighty
And hearty
Wave.

For speaking
The mind,
To do what’s
Right, so
That no

One be judged
If their skin is
Not light.
Their might

Was an impressive
Sight.
My respect for

Them is at a
Tremendous height.

A group here
A group there
Groups everywhere

People with
Different hair
All sitting
In the same chairs.

Chit chat and
Laughter fills
The air.
Blacks and whites,
Asians and Hispanics

All sit together
To
Discuss
The band
Called
Panic!

I smile
Brightly,
Thinking
To myself
Quietly.

How happy
I am to
Be, with
My friends
In this
Momentary state
Of
tranquility.

Just looking at the everyday people around you can really make you see the world in a new light.
