Pennies
I wake up
Getting ready for school is easy
My mom made me a bowl of cheerios
I hate when it gets soggy

I walk to school
It’s the same everyday
Until one day when it wasn’t
There was an old woman sitting on the ground
She was outside the Mini Mart

She was dirty
She had no money
She had no home
It was so sad

I’m just a kid what could I do for her
I walked by
The women asked for spare change
I checked my pockets
I only had a few pennies
I gave them to her
She just looked at me and smiled
I could tell she was happy

Later that day I came home
I felt very appreciative
I guess after seeing that women it made me realize
I realized what I had taken for granted
Food on the table
A roof over my head
Running water and electricity
Clothes on my body
A family

The next day came
I woke up
Getting ready for school was easy
My mom made me a bowl of cheerios
I hate when it gets soggy

I walk to school
The women was still there
She looked at me
She asked for spare change
I checked my pockets
I only had a few pennies
I gave them to her
She just looked at me and smiled
I could tell she was happy
