i guess that this is where we are now; stuck in between nothing and everything.
what is this called? do we pretend we’re friends, or understand something darker?
you send mixed messages of every kind; never decisive on where you stand.
you let people in, just to turn and kick them back out into the rain.
you say you’re for the people, but what people are you for?
it seems to me you have but one care; yourself.
you are Selfish.
i never used to understand why you always spoke like that;
now, i suppose i do. your words are your single defense;
confusing “friends” to avoid emotional confrontation.
you take your emotions out on others,
whether you are aware, or not.
you are Cruel.
in public, you demonstrate yourself to be the peasant in the castle;
though you and i both know you believe you’re the king.
the condescending tone you bring forth doesn’t help.
you dress like you belong; you act like you don’t.
the way they treat you is correlated to your
silent demand to be treated as a god.
you are Arrogant.
i used to hold you close to my heart before you used her.
you took her naivety as an excuse to be a player.
you never cared about her feelings,
nor did you ever love her,
as she had loved you.
you are Reckless.

you never cared about me.

you are Shallow.

but i still stayed put because
nobody told me that i had anywhere else to go.
nobody had the courage to tell me that you didn’t own me,
that your words didn’t define me, that your actions weren’t mine.
because, in reality, you are not me, you do not own me.
i never gave you permission to break my heart.
i never told you that it was ok to hurt me.
but you did it anyways. now i see that
i can not forget what you’ve done,
because, in reality,
those we’ve left
leave SCARS.
