Breathing Breeze

A wild breeze flurries my hair across my eyes as I
watch the sway of the old oak trees.
The auburn leaves escape in the wind.
Gravel outlines the path my frayed boots crunch along,
the wind like a cyclone as the lake draws nearer.
Out of the tawny briar, a dismal water slowly crashes
against eroded shorelines.
Laced gusts of wind alter the unsettled water,
conjuring trivial waves within the mass.
My vision is secured behind my eyelids
as I absorb the sharp drifts of air against my bleak skin.
The reflective seafoam of my eyes unbars as
the whitewater fizzes against the sodden sand.
The gusts decease to a slight breeze,
calming my conscious thoughts as my breath mimics the wind.
Steady rolls of eager waves crash against my sandy seat--
waves of water, waves of breathing, waves of tranquility.
