The Cheeseburger That Came to Life
It’s a beautiful sunny May in New York City,
where people felt good and giddy.
They were all out and about,
and none of them wanted to shout.
Dogs walked on the sidewalks with care,
as people enjoyed fresh air.
But something happened later that day.
It changed the city for the rest of May.
Professor Merlin worked on something crazy.
(He also had a cat named Daisy.)
He wanted to bring inanimate objects to life,
and he did it without a knife.
He tested it on a cheeseburger to see if would work.
(He hated people who called him a jerk.)
Merlin turned off the light,
because it was too bright.
He added a chemical known as Chemical Z,
which was first tested on a bee.
The chemical turned people into monsters that weren’t like Cupid.
Merlin was pretty stupid.
He poured the chemical hoping to bring the burger life.
(Merlin will probably never have a wife.)
The burger began to grow...
little did Merlin know.
The burger grew eyes,
as Merlin thought about pies.
The burger began to snarl.
(Merlin forgot to call his friend Carl.)
Finally, Merlin saw that it was alive!
So he gave it a high five.
