The clock never strikes twice here.
How does that make you feel?
To know that time is bound by one strike and nothing more?
Does that frighten you?

I suppose it may be a bit hard to comprehend, but it is true.
We only live by one, and never two.
It is the continuity that binds us together.

Do not fear, for this is how we live.
You may live by ones, twos, threes, fours, and so on
and I understand that works
but oh! How outdated that is!

The clock is continuous, repetitive, maddening...

This land, like ours, worships the clock.

It lives by the movement of hands

and the chimes that emphasize doom

or good fortune.

This is no different from where we come from

But it is singular

and though I don't know why

I feel as if

maybe now or later

certain death of our lives

or our minds

will occur

and every man, woman, and child

will soon disintegrate

into something

or maybe nothing at all

because here, you will never know for sure

and that is why I fear

that the end is

near and I

will soon

disappe-
