I dream of walking across the stage
Reaching for my diploma
Golden tassel upon my cap
“Valedictorian”
I dream of getting an acceptance letter
“Berkeley University”
Moving across the country
All for an English degree
I dream being published
A novel on a shelf
Selling great from the start
I dream having children
A big house
A wife
Yet, I fear.
I fear my dreams will not be true
Just the thought hurts my stomach
Anxiety sets in
You see my biggest nightmare:
Not reaching my dreams
