GLISTENING MIRRORS This work is considered exceptional by our editorial staff.

I step out of the safe shadows,
of my porch,
into the vulnerable midst of the
roaring rain.
In less than a minute
my canvas shoes are soaked,
and my glistening hair,
pools off unwanted water.
I gaze into the sky,
now home to swirls of dark and light.
The sun,
hiding behind vapor- armed bodyguards,
longs to come out.
The rain beckons me to stay,
and share its soaked misery.
I stay,
and listen to the forgotten language,
of our home.
