Welcome to society
We hope you enjoy your stay
Please feel free to be yourself
As long as it’s in the right way

Welcome to Middle School
We hope it won’t be cruel
But we know it doesn’t rule

Welcome to society
Where teenagers are depressed
And the students are stressed
Where people will give you hate
On what you wear and what’s your weight

Our Society is broken
Not like anyone cares
But the teenagers are heartbroken

And this is what society says

They said if she wanted boys
She has to change her ways
They told her to wear make-up
Because plain-skin’s not okay

She hated wearing dresses
And she couldn’t walk in heels
She couldn’t live up to your standards,
And all of your ideals

Welcome to society
We promise we won’t deceive
And one more rule now that you’re here,
There’s no way you can leave.

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write this piece because I was bullied a lot and I saw other people getting bullied. I soon relized that society has put such big standards that people can't live up to. I wanted to write something showing how these standards really effect people.
