Catching the Sun

It falls slowly and catches the sun for a fleeting moment.
A glimpse of light, a sliver of warmth.
It tumbles through space and time and I notice its intricacies.

A leaf drifting on a sidewalk.
No destination. No complication.
No pain, but yet no hope.
No place to run from, but yet no place to go.

And I wonder if I will ever be as free as this leaf.
