Sugar Water
sticky hot summer nights
pink and swollen mosquito bites
smile sweet girl you’re alright
Laughing through
the pang in your heart that whispers his name
sweet green summer grass tickles my toes
nighttime Crickets nestle in the ground to start
conducting their orchestra of rhythmic midnight lullabies
he is fleeting now
don’t leave quite yet
the night is not ready for your absence
look, the Stars are singing now
you can see the man in the Moon smile at them
sway with me and close your eyes
you ask yourself who was it that made you cry?
