UNFORGETTABLE
Most nights we sat on the couch
We didn’t really do or say much
The TV was always on
Although I paid little attention to the screen
I was more intrigued by his steady breathing
Or the way his heart thumped
in rhythm with mine
How he chewed on his bottom lip
as he concentrated on the action in the movie
The adjustments he made to get more comfortable
But I was already comfortable
as I could possibly be because of him
The complex things seemed so simple
And this made me smile
He could feel my smile
he turned his face and looked at me
with his deep hazel eyes,
chuckled a little
Which made me laugh
We were both thinking the same thing
I could feel it
I was too afraid to say it
So he did
“I love you”
